- 05.20.2020 – Director of Unicoi County Elections, Sara Fain, has announced that eligible Tennessee voters can submit an application to vote by mail now for the August 6th election. - 04.06.2020 – The Town of Unicoi announced on Facebook that the 18th Annual Strawberry Festival, originally scheduled for May 16, has been canceled.
- 04.02.2020 – The Town of Erwin announced on Facebook that following the recommendation from the Center for Disease Control, Town of Erwin had decided to cancel the Erwin Great Outdoors Festival 2020 scheduled for May 2nd.
- 04.01.2020 – Town of Unicoi Mayor Johnny Lynch has now declared a state of local emergency and issued a “Safer at Home” directive. This order will close all non-essential businesses and restrict travel outside of the home. - 03.26.2020 – A message from the Unicoi County Mayor Garland Evely: Effective Friday, March 27th we will be implementing an inside dropbox service in the Unicoi County Courthouse. This is out of concern for the safety of the employees. Courts will remain open for those that have to appear. We appreciate the community working with us to minimize person to person contact.
Update – There will be no drop off for the County Clerk’s office. Please contact their office at 423-743-3381. A reminder that the deadline for obtaining registration renewals that expire in March or April has been extended to June 15, 2020. - 03.26.2020 – A message from the Unicoi County Mayor Garland Evely: As of today (03.26.2020), we do now have a confirmed case of a patient with COVID-19 in Unicoi County. - 03.25.2020 – A message from the Unicoi County Mayor Garland Evely: Unicoi County receives daily updates from the Tennessee Department of Health concerning reported cases of COVID-19. At 12 pm today, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Unicoi County. It is important to note that there is a delay of 3-4 days between testing and results. As more information becomes available, this will be shared with the community. Bill Lee announced that Tennessee has received a declaration for Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration in response to a request submitted on Wednesday, March 18. The Economic Injury Disaster Loans are administered and processed through the SBA. Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.
